So Many Great Beers….So Little Time!

“Every loaf of bread is a tragic story of grains that could’ve become beer, but didn’t.” – Walter Thornburgh

So many great craft beers….so little time!  Make the most of your time and money at Pints for Half Pints. Visit the About page for details on the 2015 fund-raiser for STEAM programs at Midtown schools. Eight excellent area breweries have teamed up to donate their tasty craft beer: Blind Owl Brewery, Metazoa Brewing Company, Broad Ripple Brew Pub, Thr3e Wise Men Brewery, Brugge Brasserie, Upland Brewery, Outliers Brewery and Bier Brewery.  (Applause!!)

Craft beers have steadily risen in popularity across the country, and Indianapolis is no exception. Stan Hieronymus writes in The New Brewer that “Brewpubs continue to defy categorization, continuing to show that they’re more than just a brewery plus a restaurant, but rather a thriving synergy of the two entities. The 1,412 brewpubs operating at the end of 2014 brewed 1,170,935 barrels, and remained on the front lines of the ‘drink local’ movement across the U.S.”

According to the Brewers Association, the volume of craft beer produced by small and independent brewers increased 18% during the first half of 2014, from 9 million barrels produced during the first half of 2013 to 10.6 million barrels for January through June 2014.

Indiana boasts more than 100 local breweries; there are dozens in the Indy Metro area. Our thanks again to the breweries listed above for sharing their fine brews and supporting Midtown kids.
